Does Hoodia Work? My Experience with Hoodia.

After the birth of my second child, I became increasingly depressed over my weight gain and overall appearance, but the problem went deeper than that. The depression was only a symptom, not a cause. The real culprit with my life-long struggle with weight, was and is still addiction–a destruction cycle of emotional eating. Since I’ve lost my weight, I’m not depressed anymore about my appearance and I’ve made positive changes in my life to reduce the urge to eat (see my posts on emotional eating.) Although it’s currently in check, like any addiction, my emotional eating will take a life-time to deal with.

Once I committed myself 100% (see my post on commitment) to losing weight, I began research on how to lose weight and the different types of diet pills available. I was particularly interested in Hoodia, since it was natural. After consecutive pregnancies and breastfeeding, my appetite was insatiable (see my before and after photos). I knew I needed a little help just to get started. Despite my husband’s protests, I purchased of Flora’s Hoodia (gordonii 20: 1 extract) 60Caps to curb my appetite.

I like houseofnutrition.com. I found their prices reasonable, their selection of products impressive, and they have good customer service. I promised him that I would take no more than one bottle. The reason I choose that particular Hoodia was due to my research. I read on many forums and blogs that I needed to take a form of that was at least 450mg to actually work. I know they are cheaper ones available, but I didn’t want to chance it. Health Aid’s Hoodia 500mg

I took 2 hoodia pills each time, a couple in the morning and the other pair in the afternoon around 3-4pm when I would get hungry. I didn’t have any problems with the pills, like nervousness or jitterness. Hoodia, in my case, helped. After three and a half weeks, I stopped taking the pills because my stomach shrank, and I wasn’t hungry between meals and snacks, which greatly helped me stick to my new eating habits. Honestly, it was just the help I needed to motivate me to continue. One bottle was enough for me. If you’re thinking of trying Hoodia extract, please ask your medical doctor BEFORE taking these pills, or any other type of diet supplement. If you decide to try them, let me know how they worked out for you.

Best Wishes!

Vas

    Vas,

I was just curious if you take any thyroid or antidepressant meds. I just bought my first bottle of Hoodia and noticed no results my first day on the product. I take both the above meds each day and wondered if other people have had success with Hoodia that are taking other meds.

    Dear Melissa,

I didn’t take anything else other than a multi-vitamin when I was taking Hoodia. Check the label of the bottle. The Hoodia portion should be at least 450 mg to work. Also, please check with your doctor if you should be taking it along with your other meds.

Finally, please read my recent post about a book that every female should read about her health.

    Wishing you health & happiness,
    Vas

    Vas,
Thanks for responding. I take 1500mg before breakfast and lunch but I don’t notice anything. Do you think the product you ordered would work? I don’t have a doctor but since Hoodia is natural with no side affects my guess is a doctor wouldn’t have a problem with it. I chose Desert Burn at first. I thought maybe you might have heard some other women with this same issue.

    Dear Melissa,

Wow, 1500 mg and it still doesn’t work! Yes, I had two other people tell me that Desert Burn didn’t work. I think Desert Burn contains 450 mg of Hoodia, right?

Please be careful. Although Hoodia is natural, it may not be healthy if it’s mixed with other meds. I’d hate for you to become ill.

Try the one I suggested in my post. It worked for me and I had a pretty ferocious appetite. If you do order it,let me know how it works out for you.

    Best Wishes,
    Vas

    Hi Vas,

No, Desert Burn actually contains 750mg per capsule! I don’t think I’ll throw my money away on anything more, unless it has a money back guarantee!

Thank you for responding! I am so happy you were successful! There are so many of us who haven’t been and it gives us hope to see you!

    God Bless.

    Hi Melissa,

I know how hard it is to control one’s appetite. My appetite never decreased after 2 pregnancies and breast-feeding. I was constantly hungry, thinking of food. Although I haven’t gained any weight back, food has always been (and still is) a problem of mine. I’m very aware of why and what I eat now, which wasn’t always the case. What really helped me was realizing that I was eating to fill a void in my life.

You too can have success with good thoughts, committment and action. I don’t know if this pertains to your situation, but have you read my posts on emotional eating?

    Warmly,
    Vas

    Vas,

I haven’t read them yet. I suppose I am a bit cynical at this point. I tried last year so hard. I spent 4-5 weeks dedicated to change. I was at the gym 6 days a week and watched my diet meticuously. I did not loose a pound or an inch. That did it for me for a while. I guess I fell for the Hoodia Ads. I thought it would be different this time. I thought Hoodia would allow me ultimate control and how could I not loose weight if I wasn’t eating, right? I have read some new books and I will try some juicing to see if that seems to help. Thank you so much for your encouragement and I will read your posts on emotional eating.

Hi, I can truelly support your claim. I had a simillar experience and also did research regarding Hoodia. Yes, initially i thought it would be another dissapointment, but it proved the opposite. I started with 400mg,but I can definitely see the difference with 450mg. Ive also noticed on the bottle that they even recommend you take 3/day.I am desperate and have done such. Let me add that I have lost 2kg’s in 1 week.It feels awesome! Thanks so much

    Dear Olly,

In answering your question, please consider two things regarding Hoodia: doctor and manufacturer. The manufacturer knows best. You can contact them and ask them for the information you need. If they say no, then please don’t take them. However, if they say yes, please go to your doctor. Your doctor will have the final say whether or not you should take them.

    Best wishes!

Yes Hoodia works but only when u order 100% unique hoodia that have the molecule p57 that helps you suppress your appetite

I know I’m way late on this, but I’ve been taking a hoodia supplement and have found it extremely effective. It combines other extracts as well, and its working better than anything over the counter I have ever tried. Maybe its the combination of all them together that works? I dont know, but I am finding it to be a good tool for my weight loss.

I am now taking Hoodia Gordonii and I experimented a little bit with it since in the beginning I didn’t feel anything. So first day it was nothing but I was taking only 3 capsules. Then I took Hoodia powder and started to increase the dose . So now I am taking 3 doses of 5 grams daily which is 10 more than what I read is recommended and finally it works. The only problem is it tastes like dirt but what can I do. The hunger is still there a little bit but nothing I can’t ignore but I feel good overall. I am looking to go out more since that will obviously suppress hunger even more. I’ve been on the fast now for 60 hours and have lost 10lbs. It works it you take a large dose whenever you have a creeping hunger and if you can get over the taste.

    Dear Vladex,

In order for the Hoodia to suppress the appetite, it should be a minimum of 450mg. I’m a little worried about you taking more the recommended dosage.

What kind of fast are you on? Congrats on the 10 pound weight loss too.

    Best Wishes,
    V

hey there everyone…i have also started on cla hoodia yesterday, and yes i have done all my homework on it that is why i tried this one because its natural, anyways, i have a 2year old son that needs and wants attention the whole time, and sice his birth i could never play and spend time with him for long becausue i was always out of breath, so yesterday i took one of the tablets and i can truly say, that i have never had so much energy i went home after work, and i could play with my son, and felt alive in a very long time, i felt good about myself, i think that is is a good thing, we can acually update our weights every week and encourage each other, i drink loads of water, and i eat rough veggies and fruit, nothing cooked up, and when i feel hungry which has not happened soon, i eat a carrot or i drink a glass of water, so try doing that, if you do feel hunger,i hope that we can start a good friendship encouraging each other and helping each other, its not nice when you feel left out, and you see all the sexy girls with mini skirts walking pass you,,,,,and here you sit with a long pants too hide your thighs,,,so let us be there for each other, and keep each other up to date with our weight,,,,good luck everyone, i will logg in next week friday again and tell you if the hoodia worked, and if i lost any kilos…mwaah..
